There are a few new characters here, most of them a fairly welcome addition, if a little bit strange like the nuns for instance. Yes I'm serious. Most of the characters are still a little flat and shallow, but there is just enough for you to care about them. Not my favourite in the series so far, but it has some good moments. I think my problem is the pace of the series.
This book covers just a couple of days and is set exactly after the end of the pervious books. This is book 4 and only now are we meeting the real evil and seeing just how bad it's going to get.
There is a lot of internal monolouge and it gets a bit repetitive, stopping the book from moving faster and making it drag a little, keeping it from being a 4 star read. Great book, I'm working my way through the house of the night series so this one was next. They all look great on my bookshelves in their bright colours too which is a bonus. This is more a young adult fiction which some sexual references.
I enjoy the easy read of this fantasy style book. There are vampires but different to as I've seen them I'm books before. The story begins to develop in this book as it moves off from Zoey's personal life to actually having a purpose. Aphrodite's character becomes more in depth likewise with the rest of them. The voice of Zoey is more mature and it is a much preferred read.
With a few humorous lines in the story to lighten it up this is probably the best so far in the House of Night series. The only annoyance is that things are repeated constantly, such as description of her grandmas use of cherokee words and the twins likeness.
This book is a series and is bound to be read in order the need to repeat everything is unnecessary and i did skim read in total of about ten pages of what i didnt need to know. I have every book in this series. Couldn't put them down. Really interesting characters. How many books have you read and its all vampires and humans full stop!!!?
This one has powers, Indian legends, creatures and a lot more. As Zoey starts to get her friends trust back new challenges appear to haunt her. Neferet is becoming more and more evil and now she manages to free Kalona the fallen angel. Zoey experience a strong connection with Stark only to be left broken heart after his death. With him and others becoming red fledglings and the threats to her life, Zoey needs to be strong and the Goddess is always on her side as the new tattoos prove it.
Again and addictive and beautiful story. As soon as I finish one of these books I'm already with next one besides me! Good book. We use this information to create a better experience for all users. Please review the types of cookies we use below.

Persephone, the big sorrel mare who I could consider mine for as long as I lived at the House of Night, craned her head around and nuzzled my cheek. I kissed her soft muzzle and went back to brushing her sleek neck.
Grooming Persephone always helped me think and made me feel better. And I definitely needed help with both of those things. Sure, I did lie to them, but it was mostly by omission. And, yeah, I kept some stuff from them.
Mostly for their own good. Well, the stuff about Stevie Rae being undead was for their own good. The stuff about me having a thing with Loren Blake—Vampyre Poet Laureate and professor at the House of Night—well, that was more for my own good. I sighed again. I breathed deeply of the leather and horse smell, letting the soothing mixture ease my nerves.
Catching my reflection in the smooth glass window of the tack room, I automatically ran my fingers through my dark hair, trying to make it look not so bedheady. And supergood hair was only one of the many changes taking place with me.
Some of them were invisible—like the fact that I had an affinity for all five of the elements. Some of them were very much visible—like the unique tattoos that framed my face in intricate, exotic swirls and then, unlike any other fledgling or adult vampyre, the sapphire design spread down my neck and shoulders, along my spine, and most recently, had moved around my waist, a little fact no one but my cat, Nala, our goddess Nyx, and I knew.
Like who could I show? Today not only do you have zero boyfriends, but no one will ever trust you again for at least, I dunno, a gazillion years or so. Well done, you! I mean, seriously, if it did, then my friends and I would have kissed well, not literally and made up days ago. I was just going to have to face them and start trying to make things right.
The late December night was cool and a little misty. The gaslights lining the sidewalk that stretched from the stable and field house area of the school to the main building flickered with little haloes of yellow light, looking beautiful and old-worldly.
Actually, the whole campus of the House of Night was gorgeous, and always made me think of something that belonged in an Arthurian legend more than in the twenty-first century.
